The judging for the Hucknall Tourism & Regeneration Group competition took place on Tuesday with Dispatch reporters Denis Robinson and Jackie Derbyshire touring the town to mark the efforts.

There were a total of 29 businesses who entered across the town from Main Street to Watnall Road, Portland Street to Annesley Road.

“We were both very impressed with how much effort had been made by the businesses at a particularly busy time of year,” said Denis.

After counting up the scores, 1st prize went to Hucknall Home Improvements, on Annesley Road, with their reindeer and sleigh design. Second prize went to Thomas Bond Opticians, on High Street, and third prize went to the Sense Charity Shop also on High Street.

Special commendations to Iceland, Ashgate Road, for involving a school and making their own decorations and Party Designs & Cards, Watnall Road, for their professional approach.

“There were more businesses who had dressed their windows but had failed to enter- so there could have been even more entries,” said Ken of HTRT. “But it showed great enthusiasm.”

We would like to take this opportunity to thank both Jackie and Denis for their judging of the entered shop windows, and also to thank the 29 shops who entered. Several of the businesses had gone to a great deal of trouble to make their own decorations which were charming.
