Around 40 producers from the district will be taking part in the Spirit of Christmas event at Mansfield Manor hotel on Sunday 1st December.

Local businesses producing cakes, candles, pottery, cards, and jewellery will be displaying their wares.

Visitors can also tuck in to a wide range of delicious food and drink, ranging from dishes with a Caribbean twist to traditional pork and stuffing, organisers said.

The former Portland Hotel, located in Carr Bank Park, was bravely taken on by business partners Paul Andrews and Diane Doran 18 months ago with a dream to transform it into a ‘centrepiece for the town’.

Rebranded as Mansfield Manor and with the help of £200,000 in investment, the pair have transformed the hotel and said they are holding the Christmas market as a way of putting something back into the town.

Paul said: “The Mansfield community has truly welcomed us with open arms.

“Everyone has been fantastic and it is with delight that we can help bring the Christmas spirit to town.”

Stags manager Paul Nyland will also be swapping the touchline for the grotto at the event - appearing as the resident Father Christmas.

The event is set to run from 10am to 4pm with extra parking available at the Brunt’s Academy.

There will also be chance to win tickets to Mansfield Manor New Year’s Eve event including a buffet and family fun.
