The Co-Op opened the doors to a brand new food store in Hucknall on Friday 17th April.
The new Watnall Road store has created 19 jobs and offers a wide range of products and services including an in-store bakery, fresh and frozen produce, sandwiches and snacks, newspapers and magazines, Paypoint, Lottery, a cash point, Foreign Currency and a free car park.
The store will be open from 7am to 10pm every day.
Store manager Luke Harris said: “This is a very exciting time for myself and my team and we’ve had a great launch day with lots of positive comments received from customers. During the day we provided all customers with a free loaf of bread and money off vouchers as well as offering food tastings from the in store bakery.”
Co-op Food underlying profits increased 1.5 per cent to £251m in the year to January 3rd. Overall like-or-likes were up 0.4 per cent and up 3.2 per cent in the ‘core convenience’ stores.
The grocer acquired 82 convenience stores and refurbished more than 700 stores in the year as part of its ‘rescue’ phase. It will now implement a three-year rebuild plan by acquiring 100 convenience stores and refurbishing 255.
