Cobra Beer boss gives talk at dinner event

The co-founder of successful Indian beer brand, Cobra Beer, was the special guest at a business dinner hosted by West Notts College last week.

Lord Karan Bilimoria, CBE DL, who is also senior non-executive director of the Booker Plc FTSE 250 company as well as Cobra chairman, shared the Cobra Beer success story with sixty guests at the event.

Hosted by principal and chief executive Asha Khemka OBE, the dinner was attended by key business and political leaders from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

Lord Bilimoria gave a talk about the international phenomenon that is Cobra Beer and also led a discussion about growth within our region before guests were able to quiz him about his career and business philosophy.

Asha Khemka said: “It was an honour and a privilege to be able to welcome Lord Bilimoria to our business dinner.

“He is a true giant of the business world and we are very lucky to have had him visit our local area.

“He has a wealth of knowledge and inspiration to share with our business and political leaders and I am sure he will leave us with much to think about and act upon.”

Other guests at the dinner included business leaders from Lloyds TSB, Rolls Royce, British Gas and Center Parcs, councillors, college governor and representatives from the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce.

Of Indian origin himself, Lord Bilimoria is an independent Crossbench Peer in the House of Lords.
