More events have been announced as part of the run-up to the forthcoming Christmas season at our country parks.

There will be something for everyone at Rufford Abbey and Sherwood Forest country parks including Christmas trails, Santa grottos and Hucknall and Linby Brass Band at Rufford, and the popular Sparkling Sherwood event.

Here are just some highlights of the forthcoming Christmas period:

l Rufford Abbey County Park :

Santa’s grotto. All weekends through to December 18 then December 19 until Friday 23 December, 11am to 4pm Cost is £5.

Pop along and enjoy the magic of Christmas with a visit to Santa Claus. Includes a visit with Santa and a small gift. Please note, parking charges apply. Children must be accompanied by an adult, last entry 3.45pm. No need to book.

Hucknall and Linby Brass Band, Sunday December 11, 2pm to 4pm

Hucknall and Linby Brass Band will be returning to Rufford’s courtyards this December after their successful summer performance.

They will be playing a host of sensational music to get visitors in the mood for Christmas.

Please note, parking charges apply.

l Sherwood Forest Country Park :

Santa’s grotto, weekends from until Sunday December 18, 10am to 4pm. Cost of £5.

Spend a few minutes telling Santa Claus all your wishes and receive a small gift as well. Parking charges apply

All children must be accompanied by an adult, last entry 3.45pm

Tree dressing, Sunday December 4, 11.30am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm.

A seasonal highlight in Sherwood’s Christmas calendar. Join in the ancient custom of tree dressing, and where better to celebrate the wonder of trees than in one of England’s most famous forests. The visitor centre lights switch-on will take place at 4.15pm, once the tree has been dressed with all the decorations. Please note, parking charges apply

Sparkling Sherwood

Friday December 9 to Sunday December 11, 6pm to 8pm.

Winter lighting event. See Sherwood’s ancient oak trees in a whole new light, literally, as we invite you to take a walk through the illuminated forest – a truly magical start to winter and a memorable experience to treasure. The walk route is approximately one mile.

Timed entry tickets at 6pm, 6.15pm, 6.30pm, 6.45pm and 7pm.

Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance, available now.
