A GIANT banana helped Hucknall Leisure Centre make sure it didn’t slip up with a fundraising initiative for Comic Relief.
For the piece of fruit was none other than a member taking part in a Zumba class to earn cash as part of the nationwide charity effort.
Zumba is the workout craze that is sweeping the globe. It combines dance and fitness with a background of infectious Latin music.
The centre on Linby Road opened up the class to non-members and youngsters in aid of Red Nose Day last Friday.
Dancers were invited to don fancy dress, and costumes included the Mad Hatter from ‘Alice In Wonderland’ and Robin Hood’s squeeze, Maid Marian.
Louise Bonser, who led the Zumba class, dressed as the children’s book character Where’s Wally.
Donations, sponsorship money and a sweepstake have resulted in £110 being collected so far.
