St Andrew’s Church

Morning prayer on Sunday week was led by Michael Beaumont, with readings by Sue Wilson and Margaret Coupland. Organist was John White. Refreshments were served afterwards by Sue Wilson and Malcolm Goodall.

Green Centre

Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed 18 members to Tuesday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Bunty Dixson and Maureen Abbott. Eighteen members were welcomed to Friday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Maureen Abbott and Dolly Moody. Refreshments were served by committee members and helpers. David Ramsdale, Maureen Abbott and Celia Smith. Bingo caller for both sessions was Celia Smith.

Short Mat Bowls

Nine members attended the session held on Thursday week in the Village Hall. Winner of the raffle prize was George Hutchison.

Over 50s Club

Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed 42 members to Wednesday week’s meeting, held Wednesday week at the welfare. Dance MC was Dennis Knight and bingo caller was David Ramsdale. Members joined in a horse racing theme game arranged by Marion Sentence, Graham Jarvis and Graham Vardy. A general knowledge quiz arranged by Bill Lamb was won by Jacqueline Brown. Chocolate dance winners were Colin and Heather Fell. Twenty raffle prizes were won. Winners were Jean Higgins, Brenda Creasey,Fred Brown, Eileen Baxter, Marion Sentence, Marion Towle, Mary Bradley, Ruth Vardy, Barbara Marson,Agnes Heron, Brian Dickinson, Jill Olley, Jean Brentnall, Connie Roberts, Hazel Bryan, Rita Dodsworth, Marni Shah and Christine Benn. Refreshments were served by Marion Sentence.

Burton Court Centre

Chairman Sandra Morton welcomed 16 members to Tuesday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Val Holmes and Sheila Cottrill. Twenty members were welcomed to Thursday weeks meeting. Raffle winners were Freda Smith and Phyllis Salmon. Refreshments were served by committee members and helpers. Bingo caller for both sessions was Sandra Morton.

St Margaret’s Church

Holy Communion service Sunday week was led by the vicar, the Rev Richard Seymour-Whiteley, who preached and led prayers. Hospitality greeter was Nan Devonport. Reader was Tony Cumberlidge and Jenny Elston read the gospel. Elements were taken up to the altar by Tony and Gaynor Cumberlidge and Jacqueline Brown helped with distribution. The offertory was taken by Jenny Elston. The choir sang an anthem arranged by organist Derek Reaney. Sunday school activities were supervised by Karen Bonser, children sang and made pictures. Prayers were read by Holly and Sienna Stokoe and Hannah Bonser. Refreshments were served afterwards by Sandra Burrows, Harrison Beaser and members of the congregation.
