Last Wednesday morning, the Toddler Group met in the schoolroom, followed in the afternoon by the Bright Hour. The speaker was Mr David Pollitt, who spoke about the music he plays and what it has meant to him. Mrs Cilla Marsh chaired the meeting, and Mrs Wyn Sansom was the pianist. The Youth group, Engage, met in the evening . On Thursday evening, the Youth group, React, met. The Rupert group held its meeting last Friday, at the home of Mr and Mrs R Walters,and was led by the Rev. Rodney Warden. On Friday lunchtime, the families in receipt of free school lunches were invited to lunch at the church. It was well attended. On Sunday morning the preachers were Mrs Irene Spencer and the Rev Arthur Spencer. Mrs J. Walters and Mr B. Sayeg, acted as the stewards, and Mr David Richards was the organist. The congregation celebrated the birthdays of Mr David Richards, Mrs C. Marsh, and Mrs V. Hocking. Coffee was served afterwards in the schoolroom. On Monday afternoon, the Home Fellowship met at the home of Mrs Mary Marsh and was led by the Rev Arthur Spencer.The group studied ‘Jeremiah’.

Peafield Community

The service held last Sunday morning was conducted by Ian Munro, whose subject was ‘Seeing the World through Heavens eyes’. The prayers were led by Kathy Smith, and the Bible readings were given by Margaret Munro. The refreshments after the service were served by Bill and Beryl Blagg.

Triangle Health Group

Twenty-one members attended the meeting held last Thursday week in the Turner Hall Lounge. Ruth Marriott collected the subscriptions and organised the raffle. Janet Houldsworth chaired the meeting and welcomed the visitors, team leader Chris Nash and Mandy Walker, from The Stroke Support Discharge Team. They spoke about their work in supporting and visiting people when they return to their own homes. They were presented with a cheque for £100, which will be used to purchase a piece of equipment. The refreshment hostesses were Doreen Makings and Connie Froggatt. The raffle winner was Kath Betts.

St Edmund’s Church

Last Sunday week, the 10am service was conducted by the Rev Allen Scrivener assisted by Irene Stubbs. The Bible readings were given by Ken Gleadall, Kate Miller and Irene Stubbs. The sidesmen were Mr and Mrs Hardy. The prayers of intercession were led by Kate Miller, and the chalice assistants were Dave Colclough, Jean Taylor and Ken Gleadall. The coffee was served in the Stable Centre by Irene Garrett and Maud Jarvis. The Evensong was conducted by Irene Stubbs. The sidesmen were Eva Shepherd and Dorothy Bower. The readings were given by Mr and Mrs Blagg, and the organist was Annie Bunce.

The Christadelphians

Last Sunday morning, the All Age Worship, at the Church of the Brothers and Sisters in Christ, was organised by Denise Sobcynski. Bible characters were brought to life through art, craft and drama groups. The completed exhibits were brought together at the end of the service by presentations and singing. After a communal lunch, George Sobcynski gave the sermon for the comminion service, ‘Jesus invites us to dine with him’, and handed out the broken bread representing his body, and the wine his blood, shared that we might have life eternal. The musicians were John Bennett on the organ, and Peter Cresswell on the piano. The steward was Tony O’Connor. The Wednesday evening Bible Class was led by Anne Clark who chose the 2nd letter of Peter for discussion. Prayers were said for the sick and imprisoned of the world.
