“The development offers the opportunity of up to 2000 much needed jobs on a high quality, employment site. Without doubt, the jobs and skills which will be available from the businesses will benefit the town directly and Nottinghamshire generally.

Now that planning permission has been granted, Ashfield District Council along with various other partners will develop and promote high quality sustainable jobs within the business park. A studio school to train 14-18 year olds in vocational and engineering qualifications could also be a feature of the development. This type of training facility could be the bedrock of good jobs for many young people

Developers have indicated that less than 100 homes will be built per year and have assured the Council that priority will be given for local tradesmen and apprenticeships schemes during the construction. The community benefits from the site, other than the potential 2,000 jobs will be a new primary school, additional open space, play parks and contribution to develop a health resource for Hucknall West.

Highway improvements are included within the application which will alleviate some of the traffic issues not just on the site itself but on the town’s road links with Nottingham.

The Council will be very active in monitoring this development in accordance with the planning controls, as it progresses to ensure that the benefits for the people of Hucknall are delivered quickly and in the most appropriate way for the environment but also the prosperity of Hucknall.”
