Continued support for Hucknall’s Battle Batten campaign

As awareness for the disease hits a high this week with the Batten Disease Awareness Weekend, the Hucknall family whose two boys are the only identical twins in the world believed to have this rare genetic neurological condition, will be celebrating their ever increasing fundraising total.

Kind-hearted members of the community are continuing to offer their support to the Annesley Road couple, Andrew Dawkins and Sarah Finney, who are hoping to raise £20,000 to help fund research into the disease.

High Street shop, Hope Charitique presented the couple with a cheque for £250 this week from money raised through sales whilst a raffle held at the dance show by Hucknall based Sarah Adamson School of Dance collected £350 for the campaign.

“I’m really grateful to the dance school for running the raffle for our cause,” said Sarah. “It’s amazing how generous people were and it was lovely to get the chance to speak to more people about the campaign.

“We took Freddie and Louie along too and they enjoyed the atmosphere of the show and the music.”

Meanwhile family friend and City Hospital nurse, Claire Boon, held a garden party and Debbie Cox of Blidworth based Fair View Farm sent a cheque for £100.

“We have also been supported by Nottingham Off-Road Events who sent £100 and have pledged to run an event for the campaign later in the year,” added Sarah.
