Council clamping down on littering
A new initiative to tackle littering and dog fouling in Ashfield’s parks and recreation areas is being launched by the district council in a bid to clean up the area.
The authority’s Community Protection Officers are set to undertake Operation Clean Sweep – two separate two-day campaigns to catch offenders littering the district.
Residents are being asked via Facebook to report litter or dog fouling hotspots - or call the council on 0800 1838484.

The aim of the campaign is to catch people in the act so there will also be plain-clothed officers on patrol.
Edd de Coverly, service director for environment, said: “We are urging the public to get involved and tell us where and when we are likely to catch people in the act.”
