Council's plan to meet Hucknall's growing healthcare demands

Ashfield District Council is planning future health provision in Hucknall after it was estimated that up to 10,000 jobs could be created in the area over the next 15 years.

The Council has been working with Nottingham North East Clinical Commissioning Group on a bid to secure funding for additional health facilities for the town.

With job and housing growth on the cards, the needs of a growing population will bring new demand for health facilities in the district.

Councillor Jim Aspinall, Portfolio holder for Health and Wellbeing at Ashfield District Council, said: “New homes and new jobs are good news for the district and we recognise that these bring about new requirements for health facilities.

“We’re committed to working really closely with the CCG throughout this process to make sure any plans are thought through and sustainable, and will continue to do so.”

Sharon Pickett, deputy chief officer, Nottingham North and East CCG, said“We will be submitting a bid to NHS England to secure funding for additional health services in the town. If the bid is successful, we look forward to progressing our plans to ensure high quality healthcare continues to be available to every Hucknall resident.”
