The award was given to the team at The National Association of Care Catering Awards 2014, which was held at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham last Thursday (2nd October).

The Worksop-based team, which is made up of employees with a range of disabilities, beat off competition from care catering providers from across the UK.

Around 1,700 residents currently use the service, which offers a wide range of meals to choose from that can either be delivered to their doorstep hot or frozen. The service produces around 4,000 meals a day using fresh ingredients and seasonal vegetables.

Councillor Muriel Weisz, chair of the council’s adult social care and health committee, said: “I’ve seen first-hand the hard work and dedication that is put in by the team to make sure local older people have freshly prepared meals delivered to their door each day.

“The meals are always made to a high standard and the service is highly regarded by older people that use it, so this award is very well deserved and the team should be very proud of their achievement.”
