THIS PHOTO, taken by a Dispatch reader, captures the aftermath of a nasty collision involving a single-decker bus and a car on Hucknall High Street on Sunday April 10.

The vehicles smashed into each other at the junction of Watnall Road at 3.30 pm.

The orange 3B Trent Barton bus was heading in the direction of Market Place, while the Volkswagen Golf was coming from Watnall Road.

Severe damage was caused to the front of the car as it was pushed into the wall of the nearby Total Look salon and a set of traffic lights, which had to be stopped from toppling over.

The police and paramedics were called by witnesses and the male driver of the Golf was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for treatment to minor injuries.

Part of High Street and Watnall Road was closed off for an hour as police investigated and cleared debris.

Emergency workers from Ashfield District Council were called out to repair the traffic lights.

None of the passengers on the bus were injured. Police say no arrests were made.
