A 13-year-old boy has now been charged with racially aggravated criminal damage. He is due to appear at North Derbyshire’s Youth Court in Chesterfield on Tuesday, 21st April.

Detectives say a 14-year-old girl was also arrested in connection with the incident and has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Section Insp Frank Burns, who oversees neighbourhood policing in Bolsover, said: “The community of Shirebrook, police and partners work very hard prioritising community cohesion and tolerance.

“Racially motivated behaviour of any sort won’t be tolerated and we will deal with those that think it is acceptable in a robust manner.”
