Doorman in driving ban after night with mates

A nightclub doorman has been banned from driving following a late-night drinking session with friends.

Derek Beilby (46) of Slant Lane, Shirebrook, was stopped by police in Chesterfield Road at around 1.15am on 5th September because his driving was erratic.

When police breathalysed the bouncer he was almost three times the legal drink drive limit, Mansfield Magistrates’ Court was told on Thursday, 18th September.

The court was told that the father-of-two had recently broke up with his long-term partner and had been drinking with friends after work.

He was banned from driving for 23 months and given a 12-month community order - including 80 hours of unpaid work. He must also pay £145 in costs and charges.
