A couple from Hucknall have been hauled before a magistrates court for illegally dumping waste in an urban area of the town.

Jack Duggan (25) and Lisa Duggan (28), of Christchurch Road, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.

They both pleaded guilty to depositing a large amount of pea gravel and dirt on land next to an alleyway at the back of the street where they live, without the authority of a current waste management permit.

The Duggans were said to have dumped the waste on or before Wednesday 23rd April this year.

The case was brought by Ashfield District Council under the Environmental Protection Act.

Both were sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months.

They were also each ordered to pay court costs of £264.87.

Magistrates also imposed a victim surcharge of £15 each.
