An investigation into the death of a former Mansfield man who died at a music festival at the weekend has been opened.

Julian Marcus Woodward, known as Ju, had been attending the Rock and Blues Old School Weekender Festival, in Pentrich, on Saturday 26th July when he collapsed.

The 48–year–old, who now lived in Matlock, had very recently married and was attending the festival for his honeymoon.

He was taken to Royal Derby Hospital at 4.25pm but later died, a Derbyshire police spokesman said.

An investigation into Mr Woodward’s death has been formally opened at Derby Coroner’s Court. Police said it is not being treated as suspicious.

The motorbike lover ran 666 Body Piercing Studio, based in a tattoo parlour Matlock Bath, and had married his wife Lindsay (Linzie) Woodward in June this year.

A statement issued by the tattoo parlour where he had worked read: “Everyone at Matlock Bath Tattoos would like to extend our sympathy to Linzie and all of the family of Ju. Ju met Linzie here and to see them so happy only a few weeks ago on their wedding day was a privilege.”

The studio went on to describe Mr Woodward as “one of the finest people we have ever known”.
