Ms Fisher,53, was allegedly punched in the face by Leon Wadsworth and then as she lay on the ground she was kicked twice in the head by Wadsworth's friend Hayley Fletcher.

Peter Joyce QC, prosecuting, told the jury at Lincoln Crown Court that Ms Fisher, who was on the first night of her holiday with a group of family and friends, did not get up following the kicks. Attempts were made at the scene to resuscitate her and she was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead having suffered brain injuries.

Mr Joyce said that afterwards Fletcher celebrated with Wadsworth. The two of them are alleged to have staged a mock reconstruction of the fatal blows before they hugged and kissed each other.Minutes later Wadsworth messaged his brother Carl saying “I thrive off that shit. Thats made my day.” and “There are bodies laid out all over the place FFS”.

The incident which happened outside the Buzz Bar in Ingoldmells is alleged to have been sparked by violence inside the bar in which Wadsworth headbutted Nottingham man Michael Wilcox on the dance floor.

Wadsworth left the bar but outside became involved in a fight with a group of people who remonstrated with him over the headbut incident.

During that trouble Fletcher was attacked by another woman before Ms Fisher smashed a beer glass over her head.

The jury heard that Ms Fisher , who was on the first day of a holiday with family and friends, wore tinted glasses because she had limited sight and was wearing a protective device on her leg which had previously been fractured.

Fletcher told the jury she acted in self defence after she was subjected to an unprovoked attack during which she was struck by Ms Fisher over the head with a beer glass. She denied she intended to hurt Ms Fisher.

Wadsworth claimed he intervened in the violence to protect Fletcher and had no intention to cause serious injury.

Leon Wadsworth ,31, of Milnrow Road, Sheffield, and Hayley Fletcher ,31, of Paper Mill Road, Sheffield, each denied the murder of Caroline Fisher on 21 July 2018. Wadsworth admitted causing actual bodily harm to Michael Wilcox.
