Kirkby burglary gang jailed for total of more than 33 years

They were convicted for their part in the incident, alongside a fifth man, following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court.

The burglary took place on Highfield Avenue at just after 10.40am on 24t March.

The victim was in an upstairs bedroom when three of the group entered the property and threatened her with a hammer before stealing an iPhone and other low-value items.

The group, who had travelled from Nottingham city centre to the area, fled the scene in a car but following a brief pursuit by police, all five had been arrested in Hucknall within 45 minutes of the incident.

A jury found Shiero Marquis (24), of Millers Court, Radford, and Aaron Anthony Adams (28), of Ransom Road, St Ann’s, guilty of aggravated burglary.

They were jailed at on Friday for 10 years and 11 years and four months concurrent, respectively.

Twenty-one-year-old Tremaine Nigel Morley of Lathkill Close, Bulwell, and a 17-year old boy had both previously admitted aggravated burglary.

They received custodial sentences of seven-and-a-half years with six months to run consecutively from a previous conviction and five years, respectively.

The last of the five offenders, Kaiden Trevor Howell (18), of Eccles Way, St Ann’s, will be sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court next Friday after being convicted of burglary.

Speaking after the case, Det Insp Rich Monk said: “This incident was particularly violent and brazen in that a group of men have forced their way into a family home in broad daylight and have threatened a mother, leaving her badly shaken.

“By travelling out of their local area, this group wrongly thought they could avoid responsibility.

“However, the speed with which these five men were tracked down and brought before the court is testament to the hard work of our officers and staff who have helped ensure these men were brought to justice as quickly as possible.

“The sentences they received reflect how seriously Nottinghamshire Police treats this type of crime and show they will not be tolerated in our county.”
