Man arrested in Annesley on false plates failed a drugs test and was wanted for car thefts

A man wanted by police since April was arrested after officers stopped a car using false plates in Annesley.

Police stopped an Audi A3 along the A611 Derby Road in at 8pm on Thursday after enquiries showed the vehicle had a fake registration plate.

The 29-year-old man failed a roadside drug test and was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving and driving whilst disqualified.

Enquiries showed he was wanted by police following a string of Ford Fiesta thefts. The first theft happened in Kimberley on April 8 and two more Ford Fiestas were taken from properties in The Meadows and The Park Estate areas of Nottingham on Wednesday, July 7.

He has therefore been further arrested on suspicion of all three car thefts.

A 25-year-old woman, who was a passenger inside the Audi A3 that was stopped last night, was also arrested in relation to the vehicle thefts, a Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said.
