A Mansfield man charged with causing the death by dangerous driving of Mansfield Woodhouse woman Sarah Redfern is to stand trial at Crown Court.
James Stafford, of Bonington Road, appeared at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Stafford, 27 is also charged with failing to stop after the incident on Haddon Road, Mansfield on 2nd August last year and driving a Citroen car without insurance.
Additionally he is charged with failing to report the matter to the police.
Sarah Redfern (31) of Vale Road, was injured in the incident at about 4.30am and died at Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre two days later.
Following news that Sarah had died, dozens of floral tributes were left at the scene of the collision, at the junction of Woodhouse Road and Haddon Road.
Chad’s Facebook page was also inundated with hundreds of messages of condolence from well-wishers.
This morning, the public gallery of the court was packed with members of Ms Redfern’s family and extra security had to be arranged to keep order outside the court room.
Stafford was committed to Nottingham Crown Court for trial on 16th April and given conditional bail.
