Men arrested after series of shop burglaries in Nottinghamshire and Ilkeston

Three men have been arrested in connection with a series of shop burglaries where cigarettes were stolen.

An ongoing police operation has been taking place to investigate five break-ins, most of which happened before Christmas.

Two McColls stores were targeted in Highbury Road, Nottingham, on September 26 last year and in Market Place, Bulwell, on November 22, and cigarettes were taken.

Tesco shops were burgled in Top Valley Way, Top Valley, on December 22 and in Carlton Hill, Carlton, on Christmas Day.

Detectives are linking them to a break-in at Trent Barton in South Street in Ilkeston on April 6.

Three men, aged 40, 33 and 33, were arrested on Thursday.

A 56-year-old man was previously arrested in connection with the Christmas Day burglary in Carlton Hill Tesco and has since been released under investigation.

Investigations are continuing and anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 834 of December 22.
