The alarm was raised and police officers were called to Watnall Road in the town just after 5.30pm on Wednesday (July 21) after a fight in the street.

Following enquiries and a thorough search of the area they arrested a man on suspicion of affray.

He needed treatment for a cut to his arm but was later released from hospital.

Inspector Sue Wain, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Whenever weapons are involved there is always the potential for serious harm to be caused which is why the force treats reports such as this seriously.

"We're working hard to understand the full circumstances of what happened, including identifying anyone else believed to have been involved.

"Our investigation is ongoing, including checking CCTV footage, and we are also urging anyone who was in the area around the time and saw what happened, to please get in touch with us.

"We’re also urging anyone who may have captured CCTV, mobile phone or dash cam footage of the incident to get in contact."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 666 of 21 July, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
