To be a cadet you must be in year 11 and commit to a two year training and development programme at one of our three Cadet Units open for recruitment; Carlton, Mansfield or Newark.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “Alongside the cadet scheme, Nottinghamshire Police work in partnership with the University of Derby to Provide the Foundation in Policing qualification.

“Passing this course not only provides you with a wealth of knowledge but also gives you an opportunity to join the University of Derby in the future. To be a Cadet costs nothing but the experiences are invaluable.”

The Carlton, Mansfield and Newark Cadet Units meet for their unit sessions on a weekly basis, in term times only.

The sessions take place between 7pm and 9pm on Wednesdays and if successful the two year programme starts in September 2020 and would give people a chance to experience modern policing, and help the community.
