Here’s a round-up of cases that have gone before local magistrates...

ASSAULT : Peter Philip Jones (57) of Torkard Court, Hucknall, admitted assaulting a woman by beating her on 31st March. Magistrates discharged him conditionally for three months and ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £85.

MOTORING: Denis J. Matthews (40) of Aitchison Avenue, Hucknall, admitted driving at 37mph in a 30mph zone on 20th December 2013. It was also proven at magistrates that he had been driving without a license and only had an expired provisional license. On 12th February 2014 it was also established that he failed to stop at a red light on Vernon Road in Nottingham. Magistrates will meet on 7th May to consider disqualifying him from driving.

Brian Whalley (65) of Nabbs Lane, Hucknall, admitted drink driving on 16th February on the Hucknall bypass. He had 111 miligrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of urine. Magistrates fined him £150 and ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Matthew Ronald Stanley Smith (30) of Hayden Lane, Hucknall, admitted driving a car without a licence on Cheyne Walk, Hucknall, on 2nd March. He also admitted driving without insurance. Magistrates fined him £180 and his driving license was endorsed with six points.

Rafal Sadura (27) of Linby Avenue, Hucknall, was found guilty of registering a vehicle without the proper insurance. Magistrates fined him £200 and ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £110.

Rueben Butler (68) of Moseley Road, Annesley, admitted driving without a seatbelt on the Hucknall Bypass on 29th July 2014. Magistrates fined him £200 and ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

Richard Clay (49) of Annesley Cutting, Annesley, admitted driving at 41mph in a 30mph zone.Magistrates fined him £40 and ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

Alan Patrick Pike (26) of Chatsworth Drive, Hucknall, was found guilty of driving without a seatbelt on the A611 in Hucknall. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

Syrus Philip Jackson (22) of Hoefield Crescent, Bulwell, admitted driving at 69mph in a 30mph zone on Canal Street in Nottingham on 2nd July 2014. He was fined £20, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20. His driving license was endorsed with six points.

THEFT: Keisha Elaine Makanjuola (28) of Sneinton Dale, Nottingham, admitted to stealing tinned food and chocolate worth £30 from Fulton Foods in Bulwell on 4th April. Magistrates fined her £20, ordered her to pay compensation of £15 and a victim surcharge of £20. She also admitted stealing meat worth £30 from the same shop on 20th March. Magistrates fined her £20, and ordered her to pay compensation of £15 and a victim surcharge of £20.

Charmaine Kathleen Portergill (37) of Uppingham Gardens, Nottingham, admitted stealing food from Fulton Foods in Bulwell on 4th April. She also admitted stealing food worth £30 from the same shop on 20th March. Magistrates fined her £100 and ordered her to pay compensation of £30 and a victim surcharge of £20, as well as costs of £55.

Lorraine Leach (35) of Amesbury Circus, Nottingham, admitted stealing alcohol worth £151 from B&M Bargains in Bulwell on 2nd January. Magistrates imposed a community order on her requiring that she receive treatment for drug dependency. She was fined £20 and ordered to pay compensation of £75, costs of £42 and a victim surcharge of £60.

DAMAGE:Matthew Ronald Stanley Smith (30) of Hayden Lane, Hucknall, admitted damaging a moped without lawful excuse on Cheyne Walk, Hucknall, on 2nd March. Magistrates fined him £200 and ordered him to pay compensation of £100 and costs of £85.

Adam Pearson (32) of Chatsworth Drive, Hucknall, admitted damaging a UPVC door worth £500. He was discharged conditionally for 12 months and ordered to pay compensation of £500 with a victim surcharge of £15.
