David Moran, 35, of Courtleet Way, Bulwell, and Craig Lancaster, 29, of Camrose Close, Nottingham, were arrested and charged in connection with the burglary of a secure cycle storage unit at the hospital on Wednesday, March 25.

Both men appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to burglary. They have been remanded in custody and are due to be sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, April 20.

Chief Superintendent Rob Griffin from Nottinghamshire Police, who oversaw the force’s investigation into the thefts, said: “This is a shameful crime which has targeted our NHS colleagues at a time when they were working tirelessly to protect the public they serve.

“The strength of the public support shown to these victims has been phenomenal and has made an impact on everyone here at Nottinghamshire Police, who have moved at an incredible pace to identify those responsible and put them before the courts.

“The speed and seriousness with which this case has been dealt with should leave anyone who thinks they can target hard-working members of our NHS in no doubt that they will be caught and that they will be dealt with robustly.”

Janine Smith, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “The CPS is committed to supporting the NHS and emergency workers.”
