Woman charged with robbing elderly man after conning her way into his house

Detectives have charged a woman with stealing cash from a man in his 80s after tricking her way into his home.

The accused is alleged to have targeted the 81-year-old at his house in Bulwell before fleeing the address on Sunday July 18.

Police were called to Riseborough Walk following the incident, which is believed to have happened just before 1.40pm.

Joanne Duke, 44 of Wingbourne Walk, Bulwell, has been charged with robbery following the incident. She appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 20, and has been remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on August 17.

Detective Sergeant Nick Wood, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We take reports of burglary very seriously and will always thoroughly investigate where it is believed such an incident has taken place.

“Officers worked quickly to make an arrest and a woman has now been charged in relation to the incident.

“Our enquiries continue and I would ask for anyone who has any information on what happened to come forward.”
