Day burglaries and night crime

A SPATE of burglaries in Hucknall have left residents counting the cost.

Houses and garages have been targeted in a number of incidents in the previous week.

Properties in Bowden Avenue, Red Kite Way and the Watnall Road areas of the town were accessed during the day by forcing entry with a tool or smashing glass in rear patio doors.

“It is rare to have this number of burglaries in Hucknall in one week,” said Det Sgt Wayne Holmes. “A silver series 3 BMW estate car was seen being driven in a suspicious manner at the times the crimes were committed.

“If you see this vehicle being driven suspiciously in your area, then contact the police immediately.”

Another house on Leverton’s Place was burgled during the evening of August 24 while two garages were broken into on Long Hill Rise on August 27.

Cars were the subject of criminal damage with one vehicle suffering wing mirror damage in Spring Street and a second car on Sheridan Way had its paintwork keyed.

Residents are being asked to be on their guard and make sure homes are secured, day and night in a bid to deter criminals.

If you have any information about any of these five incidents or notice any suspicious activity please contact the police on 101.
