Budding film directors at Ormiston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy are busy creating their entry for Ilkeston Film Festival.

The festival is part of October Spookfest and is being organised by the academy in collaboration with Toadstool Media and the Erewash Partnership.

Prize winners will get to see their creation – a short horror film - on the big screen as the best films will be shown at the Scala Cinema in Ilkeston on October 18th 2014.

Anyone can get involved and there is still time to submit entries which need to be in by Friday (October 10th 2014).

No professional equipment is needed, your film can be shot on anything from a phone to an Arri Alexa.

Software such as iMovie, Windows Movie Maker, Premiere, Vegas, Final Cut, Media Composer or even a mobile phone can be used to edit entries.

Kate Le Prevost, Extended Services Officer at Ormiston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy, said students were having fun making their film.

She said: “This is a great opportunity for anyone out there who has ever wanted to make a short film and not only are cash prizes on offer but the winners will also have their very own screening at the Scala Cinema, which will be a fantastic experience.

“All of our Year 12 Art Award students are submitting an entry and they are really enjoying doing this at the moment with me. I am also filming in Kensington and Hallam Fields Junior Schools with students there. So far, everyone has had a lot of fun.”
