Depressed man found hanged after losing job

A 42-YEAR-old man who was suffering from depression after losing his job hanged himself at his home in Bestwood Village.

Wayne Newell was found at the property in Millbank Place on Saturday August 29. He lost his job at the tool and plant-hire company, A-Plant, in December last year.

An inquest heard that Mr Newell began applying for a number of jobs, but became depressed because he was unsuccessful. He was on anti-depressant medication.

On the day of Mr Newell's death, his friend, Jayne Measures, became worried because a window at his home had been open all day.

She went round to the house with a friend, who found Mr Newell.

The Nottinghamshire Coroner, Dr Nigel Chapman, said some handwritten notes were found at Mr Newell's home and would be passed to his family.

Dr Chapman said the cause of death was hanging and recorded a verdict that Mr Newell committed an act to take his own life.
