An Ollerton school is set to be transformed by a £1 million cash boost.
The Dukeries Academy is in line for the money after the Government awarded £13.5 million to the Academy Transformation Trust that oversees it.
A portion of that money will be used over the next three years to improve school buildings at the Dukeries.
Academy Principal Ian Barton said: “It is really positive for the students and things are now moving in the right direction for the Dukeries.
We should get a goodl percentage of the money although the exact amount hasn’t been decided yet. We will be able to give the students some of the things they deserve.
The cash award has been confirmed following a meeting between MP Mark Spencer, representatives of the School and Trust and the Rt Hon Nicky Morgan MP Secretary of State for Education. The MP said: “I’m pleased the Government was able to announce the allocation of this money - we are investing in the future and this is good for the school, its’ pupils and Ollerton.”
