This year has marked the 50th Anniversary of Ashfield School, and they have certainly celebrated in style.

There was a whole-school aerial photograph (involving all 2500 students and 300 staff), a summer fair and open day that saw around 2,000 people visiting the school, a celebratory concert showcasing the school’s amazing musical talent, and a ‘back to the 60s day’ that saw staff and students alike embrace the era when the school was first opened.

No-one was left in any doubt about the special place that Ashfield has in the hearts of staff and students, past and present.

Already providing its students with the best facilities in the area – the school has its own theatre, swimming pool, dance studios, and sports facilities so good they were nominated as an official Olympic training ground in 2012 - the school has an impressive rolling programme of refurbishment.

Students returned to school in September to new Maths, ICT and PE blocks, and a new seating area.
