EDWINSTOWE: Crash motorist still critical

The driver, identified on social media as Andrew Duffill, was driving a red Honda Civic along the A6075 Mansfield Road at around 3.30am on 26th December when the incident occurred.

Police said Mr Duffill had been driving from the Forest Town area in the direction of Edwinstowe when it is understood that his vehicle was in collision with a tree.

Mr Duffill, a former student at Southwell’s Minster School and West Nottinghamshire College, works at the Cafe Rouge restaurant at the Center Parcs resort.

The passenger in the vehicle at the time of the collision is understood to be his Center Parcs colleague, chef Matthias Elliott, from Edwinstowe, who was not seriously injured.

Posting on social media following the incident, Mr Elliott said: “I consider myself very lucky but prayers for my mate Andrew Duffill.”

Other colleagues from Cafe Rouge also posted goodwill messages on Facebook.

Waitress Emma Brewster said: “I’m hoping that we will all be together soon when you wake up. We are all waiting for the call to say you’ve woke up and everything is going to be okay.”

Colleague Joey Phipps added: “Miracles do happen and if anyone can get through this, it is you.”

Both the driver and the passenger had to be cut free from the vehicle and the road remained closed throughout Friday morning while investigations were carried out.

A spokesman for Centre Parcs Sherwood Forest said: “Our thoughts are with Andy and we hope that he makes a full and speedy recovery”
