The Hucknall charity, which are currently based at the Old Beardall Street School, welcomed the community to their event on Saturday August 1 to not only boost their funds but to share their facilities.

As well as the Elsa mascot, a Minion also joined in the fun, thanks to Fun Timez Mascotz who stepped in to donate the characters to give the youngsters a treat.

And with an inflatable slide, obstacle course, burger van, ice-cream van, balloon modelling, cake stall, sweets, hook-a-duck and lots of other stalls, there was plenty to keep everyone entertained.

“It was a really good day with over 300 people stopping by,” said events co-ordinator, Katie Montgomery. “It was great to see the community come together and help our families by supporting our special day.”

Indigo kids is a charity for children with autism and other associated conditions. The group runs kids clubs, karate, Lego therapy, days out and respite weekends.

Parents also get the chance to talk to others in similar situations in our coffee shop while the centre staff look after their children.

“We have 500 families on our books with 150 accessing our support centre at the moment,” added Katie. “We raised £530 from the fun day which will help towards sending 16 children with additional needs to Butlins at Skegness in October.”

The charity moved into the former Beardall Street School in October and were hoping to buy the premises to make it their permanent base but were unsuccessful. The group are now looking for new premises.

Indigo Kids’ next event is a Beer and Barbecue afternoon on Saturday August 29 from 1-7pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance from their site at a discount before the event costing £1 or £2.50 on the day. Children are free.
