A resident at a Hucknall care home has just celebrated her 100th birthday.
The family and friends of Evelyn Skelding gathered at Aldercar Residential Home on Saturday to mark the special occasion.
Evelyn was born in Denaby Main, South Yorkshire, on 16th June 1915 and married John Thomas Skelding in 1936 at Rotherham Registry Office.
Daughter Jean Bellamy (66) of Hucknall said: “During the war my mother worked in the Royal Ordnance factory in Maltby driving trucks and helping to make rifles. She likes knitting and reading and has two grandchildren - John (42), who lives in Hucknall and Paul (41), who lives in Newthorpe.
She and Jean’s dad were widely travelled and particularly enjoyed exploring Scotland. Her husband died in 1980 and in 2006 Evelyn moved to Hucknall.
