Event sets out stalls for elderly

Older people in Bulwell are being urged to attend an event aimed at making them aware of what is available to them in the community.

The event at the Riverside Centre, in Main Street, is part of the Celebrate Older People’s Day and takes place on Wednesday 1st October between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

Stallholders include Energy in the Home, Nottingham Circle, Meals at Home, Alzheimer’s Society, Nottingham City Signposting Service, Community Heart Nurse (for free blood pressure checks), Nottingham City Homes, Rufford Knit n Natter, The Carers Federation Housing and Care 21, Foot Care – NHS, Royal British Legion, Bulwell Riverside Knit n Natter and Bulwell Forest Community Garden.

There will be a £1 voucher to spend in the Riverside café during the event for the first 200 people who attend.

There is also a free raffle ticket for a food hamper for everyone.

Bill Blackamore, from the Bulwell Forest Action Group said: “The message is that there is so much to do in Bulwell. Older people should get involved in activities as they help to keep people mobile, improves health and stops feelings of loneliness.”
