THE COMPANY in charge of running both Hucknall and Edgewood Leisure Centres is on fire — after landing a prestigious FLAME award for the third year on the spin.
Everyone Active took the Leisure Operator of the Year title at the annual prize-giving, which is run by the Fitness Industry Association (FIA), making it a hat trick for the company.
They also took gongs for Leisure Centre of the Year and Spark of Innovation.
“To win Leisure Operator of the Year is a huge achievement but to have won it three years in a row is amazing and completely unprecedented,” said managing director, David Bibby.
“The award represents the fantastic dedication and effort that our colleagues at Everyone Active put in on a daily basis, both in our centres and at head office.
“I would like to say a personal thankyou to every one of them for all their on going commitment to the company.”
David Stalker, chief executive of the FIA, said: “A huge congratulations to David Bibby and everyone working for Everyone Active across their sites for winning this hotly-contested award for the third year running.
“Not only is this victory an indication of how consistently high the operating standards are across the company, but it also shows the support they have from their members, who were asked to be part of the judging process.
“All the staff should be proud of this achievement.”
Everyone Active was awarded the operating contract to run Hucknall and Edgewood Leisure Centres by the owner of the sites, Ashfield District Council, in April 2002.
It also operates many other centres in the area including Festival Hall, Kirkby, Huthwaite, Lammas and Selston Leisure Centres.
Ashfield District Council was delighted with its partner’s success at the awards ceremony.
Portfolio holder for regeneration, culture and housing, Coun Steve Carroll (Lab) said: “We are extremely pleased with Everyone Active’s achievement within our Ashfield sites and actross the country.”
Everyone Active was formed in 1987 as Sports and Leisure Management Ltd, managing just one leisure centre in the Midlands.
Today Everyone Active operates 78 leisure venues nationwide in partnership with 28 different local authorities and employs over 5,000 staff members.
