Family fundraiser for baby unit in memory of Alyssa Rose

Football fun, countless stalls, face painting and many other activities for the whole family brought the community together in a further fundraiser in memory of Hucknall’s Alyssa Rose Legg.

This was the latest in a series of fundraising events organised by the family in memory of Alyssa Rose for the City Hospital’s neo-natal unit.

It was here that the tragic tot was cared for following complications at birth leading to her sad death a week later.

But despite the coroner putting the blame for her death down to a doctor’s blunder, the family have remained committed to supporting the unit that cared for Alyssa Rose and offered support to them following her birth.

“We had a successful funday, with plenty of people there and lots to do,” said Alyssa Rose’s mum, Karen Legg. “We raised £2,006.31 on the day and our total raised to date for the neo-natal unit is £10,743.92, which is just amazing.

“We had some fabulous stalls including face painters and kids’ tattoos,” added Karen. “The football tournament was very competitive culminating in the final between Ivory Coast and Hucknall Warriors with Ivory Coast winning the final 6-0.”

Both Karen and her husband Sion were supported in organising the day by Jamie Brough who the couple wanted to thank for his efforts.

“Jamie was the initiator of this event organised all of the football,” added Karen. “We want to say a big thank you to him and all the footballers who took part in the tournament and everyone who supported the fun day.”

We raised £2006.31 on the day. Our total raised to date with the neo natal unit is £10,743.92. Which is just amazing.
