Family party supports When You Wish Upon A Star
A party was held at Hucknall’s Rolls Royce Leisure Club on Saturday for over 100 people to mark the golden wedding anniversary of Anne and Bob Tierney as well as the silver wedding anniversary of their daughter Mandy and husband Richard Sims together with a fundraising event for grandaughter Abbie’s charity When You Wish Upon A Star.
The family, who all live in the town, have held a number of fundraising events over the years for the national charity in appreciation of making Abbie’s dream come true after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour, aged just seven.

“It was a fantastic night and everyone had a brilliant time,” said Abbie’s mum Mandy who featured in last week’s Dispatch after successfully runnning in the London Marathon.
“It was wonderful to be able to celebrate our special days and fundraise at the same time with all our family, friends, neighbours and those who are part of Abbie’s Team.”
A raffle, name the elephant competition and a dance display as well as donations in lieu of gifts all contributed to the fund which is currently at around £1,400.
