Father and son face cannabis-growing charges

A father and son jointly charged with producing cannabis have been told they must have their case heard at the crown court.

James Garner, 65, and Wayne James Garner, 34, both of Sherwood Street, Mansfield are accused of producing 21 plants in their loft.

Neither entered a plea when they appeared at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court .

The court was told how police had been at a house next door to the Garner’s and had smelled cannabis.

The magistrates spent time deliberating but decided their powers were insufficient to deal with the case.

The pair will now appear at Nottingham Crown Court on January 13.
