Firm shows its metal with new school gates

Pupils at a Huthwaite school can feel safer thanks to new railings installed by a Kirkby firm.

Huthwaite All Saints Church of England Primary School has used Kirkby-based metal railings and gates manufacturer Alpha Rail to manufacture and install new perimeter railings and automated entrance gates.

Located on a busy main road, the school was keen to improve security and access.

Suitable suppliers were contacted and Alpha Rail were chosen because of their past experience working on school projects.

School governor Craig Ford, said: “We chose Alpha Rail because they had an excellent reputation, and because they were locally based.

“The work has been completed to a very high standard and they have been very helpful throughout the project, particularly when it became apparent that the traditional stone wall required re-laying and pointing following drainage problems on the site.

They also worked well with other contractors involved in the works.”

In total over 100m of bow-topped vertical bar metal railings have been manufactured and installed across the frontage of the school and around the side of the building.

In addition, a 4m wide automated vehicle gate and a self closing pedestrian gate were also installed. Both are fitted with a keypad controlled intercom.
