Five arrested as burglary is targeted

Five men from Mansfield and Ashfield have been arrested and charged in connection with a series of burglaries in the area.

Charges were made as part of Operation Permute, a partnership with roads policing units, Nottinghamshire County Council, local authorities and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue.

The number of Police Officers and PCSOs patrolling the areas in question has also been doubled.

Gareth Davis (32), of Spinney Close, Kirkby, was charged with two burglaries – one at Crocus Street in Kirkby, and one at Nesbitt Street, Sutton.

David Rowe (24), of Alexander Avenue, Sutton, and a 17-year-old from Selston were charged with a series of dwelling burglaries across Selston including break ins at Lindley Street, St Helens Drive, Alfreton Road, Walters Crescent and Crescent Road.

Adam Leach (31), from Carter Lane, Mansfield, was charged with two dwelling burglaries and a garage burglary at Darwin Close and Abbeydale Drive, Mansfield.

Simon Pridmore (37), of Bishop Street, Mansfield, was charged with an attempted burglary at West Bank Wynd, Mansfield.

Det Insp Phil Sims said: “Coming home from work to find your house has been broken into is one of the most upsetting experiences anyone can suffer and I know this from dealing with numerous victims of house burglaries.

“Losing high value electrical items with personal data on them is a worry and we all must make sure our information is password protected and encrypted. We are doing everything we can to tackle this type of crime.”
