Five generations help Mary celebrate her 100th birthday

It was a family affair when Mansfield resident Mary Wilson celebrated her milestone 100th birthday with a special party.

Centenerian Mary was surrounded by more than 40 of her family and friends at her home on Debdale Lane.

Among five generations present were her three nieces and nephew, seven great nieces, three great nephews, six great-great nieces and great-great-great niece.

Mary was pleased to receive a card from the Queen and a telegram from Ian Duncan Smith department of work and pensions, to mark the occasion.
Mrs Wilson was married to husband John for 52 years. The couple had no children.

She retired aged 67 having worked in the offices at Rowels clothing shop and Baderlies Haberdashery shop. According to her niece Christine Kingswood, Mary still enjoys a tot of brandy and loves pork dripping!
