Flooding event helps awareness

The event was held in Rainworth but residents from across his constituency, including Hucknall, were invited to attend.

Representatives from Nottinghamshire County Council, the Environment Agency, Severn Trent and Newark and Sherwood District Council were all available to meet with visitors with flooding concerns.

The authorities were joined by companies selling products to help prevent flood damage too.

Residents Ted and Elaine Mullane, of Thoresby Dale, Hucknall, who are still living in their caravan after their home was severely damaged by floods in July, also attended.

“It was quite useful and a bigger event than the one held in Hucknall,” said Ted. “There were some interesting products and inventions but many were very expensive.”

Repairs to the Mullane’s home are almost completed and they are hopeful to be able to move back in time for Christmas.

“Thanks to the continuing media pressure on the different agencies it is keeping people focused on the issue,” added Ted. “Knowing people are fighting our corner is keeping us going but we are still waiting for action to stop it happening again.”
