A HAIRDRESSING salon in Hucknall is hoping to hit the back of the net next week when a Notts County footballer signs up to unveil a relaunch.
Mike Edwards, the Magpies’ longest-serving player, will be at the HAIR’Z PETE venue on Robin Hood Drive on Monday May 21 afternoon for an open day.
What’s more, the 32-year-old defender will also receive a haircut from his son — plus a trim from the son of salon owner, Peter Caine.
But the real reason for the event, which is open to the public, is to mark a facelift for the business, which Peter has run since 2004.
The venue has been a hairdressing shop ever since the premises were built, but when Peter, who lives in Hucknall, took it on, it was quite derelict.
A basic refit got the business up and running but earlier this year, Peter decided it was time to have a complete overhaul.
Everything has been changed, from new flooring through to new timber cladding and lighting.
Peter has managed to do most of the work himself and has received support from customers and friends.
“I didn’t spend too much and didn’t take a long lease when I started because I didn’t know whether it would take off,” said Peter.
“But I am definitely here to stay now and thought it was about time to revamp the shop. It is unrecognisable from what it used to look like.”
Edwards will be available to chat to fans and pose for photographs on Monday but the shop isn’t open for haircuts as it is normally closed on Mondays.
