Forensics key to Forest Town investigation

Following confirmation that an initial post-mortem examination has proved inconclusive, police have now brought in a bones specialist to analyse the remains to try to establish a cause of death and look for clues to confirm the identities of the bodies.

A second examination was due to take place yesterday (Tuesday, 15th October) with a specialist anthropologist working with a pathologist to re-examine the remains.

The examination should create vital clues as to whether the bodies received any injuries either before or after death.

It may also help detectives to establish the age of the bodies when they died, as well as ethnicity and sex.

Det Chief Insp Griffin said: “This process could take weeks rather than days.”

He also confirmed that following extensive investigations in the Forest Town back garden, no further clues had been discovered.
