A friendship first established between blind Bulwell man Dave Martin and the Reds legend three-years-ago has since blossomed and the duo have worked closely together to raise funds for the cause.
The latest charity event took place at the newly refurbished White Lion pub in Swingate.
During the event McGovern, who skippered Forest to two European Cup final wins in the 1970’s took centre-stage at the Kimberley hostelry and entranced a captivated audience of more than sixty people with his “Audience With McGovern “ in which he shared his memories of the Reds greatest triumphs.
Speaking after the event Dave said: “This event was a triumph of teamwork.
“The owners of the White Lion, as my daughter and her husband, have worked their socks off to ensure its success and John McGovern was a class act as our special guest.
“I would like to thank everyone who turned out for the event which has been really encouraging.
“Having been blind my self now for a good many years I fully appreciate all that is being done by the Guide Dogs for the Blind charity to give people in similar circumstances the support, help and guidance that will enrich their lives in the face of adversity.”
