John Dawes, 47, of Walkers Close, Forest Town, was charged with GBH and dangerous driving when he appeared before magistrates on Tuesday at Mansfield Magistrates Court.

It is alleged he hit a woman with his Renault Megane on Hawksworth Avenue, Forest Town, on August 11.

Debra Bell, for Dawes, said: “He strongly denies these matters.

“Mr Dawes was going to make an application for bail.

“He is now being recalled in respect of a previous sentence.

“So on that basis there is no point in applying for bail.”

The case was sent to Nottingham Crown Court to be heard on August 31.
