”Paul was fabulous with the children - really engaging - and it was inspiring for both the kids and adults to see him getting so involved,” said headteacher Zoe Anderson.

“He was soon finger painting and cutting and sticking and he really encouraged everyone to get involved.

“We have a very good relationship with Mansfield Town and my hope is that we can get Paul to come back for some numeracy and literacy classes we have planned - or even get a player down.

“For those boys and girls who love their football, to see their hero reading, writing and adding up would set a tremendous example.”
